mood: VERY VERY happy! (but knackered too!)
listening to: sounds from her new nintendo DS!!!!!! (woot!)
and so there i was, thinking that i was up for some ass whoopin' in pool by eujin... little did i know of the events that were about to unfold due to an elaborate plan that had started rolling the moment i stepped foot onto the bus on my way to singapore almost a week ago...
hang on 'cos this is gonna be a long post.
last wednesday:
ej: hey you wanna go play pool tonight? there's a tourney coming up next week and i wanna practice.
me: dude, weren't you paying attention last night? i'm going to singapore and bintan, and i won't be back till sunday lah.
ej: oh ya hoh... k.k...then monday lah when you get back. can can?
me: can can (with half a mind to bail out)
sunday:
ej: so yeah we go play pool tomorrow ya? you wanna makan before that? i pick you up lah
me: yupyup...but i'm gonna skip on dinner lah. need to go on a diet. ate damn alot during my holiday...bleh*
ej: oh okay
me: but can teman you lah. got dress code ah?
ej: er yeaaahh....it's kinda up market bar kinda place lah...
me: oh okay....aiya...pakai jeans can lah ya
ej: err....okaayy.....
monday afternoon:
me: so how tonight? i'm not gonna eat lah, but can teman you makan like i said
ej: yeah okay...7-ish?
me: alrighty then see you later!
me: hey, you wanna come play pool with me and ej tonight? he's got some tourney coming up and he needs some sparring partners.
sooj: sure! can can....what time?
me: dunno wor....probably gonna go makan first
sooj: oh okay....later after dinner can lah. where is it anyway?
me: menara maa wor....dunno where the hell is that...somewhere near cafecafe apparently. he's gonna pick me up. will let you know later lah k
sooj: k
monday evening (7pm):
me: yo dude, so what time are we gonna meet?
ej: i pick you up at 8-ish lah, or are you hungry already
me: i makan already, see you later then!
monday evening (8.15pm):
ej: (after picking me up) hey, i gotta drop of some stuff for my client first... he ah...always last minute wan...deadline tomorrow, today baru tell me bla bla bla bla...
me: sure thing. no problem lah. let me call soojin and let him know.
me: hey! where are you?
sooj: er...having dinner with winnie
me: oh okay, well ej has picked me up and we're on our way. so do you know how to get there?
sooj: dunno wor
me: ah ok....aiya ask winnie lah k
sooj: yup okay. see you later
me: so where are you gonna meet your client?
ej: at relish wor. where is it ah? don't know if i know how to get there...
me: oh ok...the one in kl? should be at changkat bukit bintang lah. d'you know where frangipani is?
ej: nope
me: bom brazil?
ej: nope
me: anyway, it's behind jln alor lah
ej: is it near ceylon hill?
me: ah yes yes! so you know your way ya?
ej: i think so....
monday evening (8.45pm):
(after arriving and parking beside relish)
me: so how long are you gonna be?
ej: bout 15 minutes lah
me: oh okay. i'll just wait in the car then
(ej steps out of the car and goes into relish for bout 5 minutes before returning)
ej: hey, my client and i have to discuss something for a short while. why don't you come down and i'll buy you a drink lah
me: oh okay...aiya no need to buy me a drink lah. hey is it alright for me to sit with you guys while you're discussing work ah?
ej: yeah sure sure...he's really nice anyway.
(i follow ej into the restaurant and up the stairs)
waiter: table for one?
me: oh no, i'm with him
(and then i turn around and see some dude crouching at the end of the room with a camera and i think to myself, "what is his client doing? is there a photo shoot going on here?)
diana: SURPRISEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(and then, people start spilling out shouting SURPRISE!!!! and all i have is this stunned/stoned look on my face)
so there you have it! i got what i asked for - a surprise birthday party! although this was said in jest after ruining all the elaborate plans laid out for the same the previous year (*sheepish grin*) heheheh*
all my thanks to alvin and diana (the main conspiritors of this "event" :P), eujin, rachel, sue, phaywen, soojin and winnie, ean, pat, albert, ken, sookyee n chenhoe and floyd for being there tonight! (you'll be getting my email soon =) ) also thanks to serina, joaquim, lailyn and tse yin for calling in =) =) =)
oh and guess what i got for birthday pressies??

let it be known that i really was surprised, and definitely moved to tears (although, thanks to my great prowess for eye muscle control, they didn't leak out..heheh*).

i FINALLY read your blog...so touching! Aw..he he..it's great to know that at least one out of ALL our planned surprise parties actually totally surprised someone and was good enough to move them to tears!
