the double whammy of duplicity

mood: incoherent
listening to: -

i think it's safe to say that no one will deny the fact that we are creatures with both elements of light and darkness, or if you may, good and evil. the fact that i believe that the root of this leads back to the fall of man, is a story that i will leave for another day.

but coming back to this duality - to me, it also pretty much just means that most people will only predominantly ever see one facet of you, and maybe, just maybe, catch a glimpse of the other. there's also no denying that this incomplete perception of who you really are is function of what you choose to reveal of yourself and to whom.

but what are the motivations behind this?

the fear of judgment? ridicule? scrutiny? or perhaps, amongst the more complicated few, the power of control and manipulation? or maybe simply because to conform to society's norms and expectations of you, is easier than having to explain your own, not-quite-so conventional views.

in any case, i know what i am thankful for. i am thankful for the handful in my life, with whom i can be myself, with whom i can be honest, with whom i have no guards up. because these are the few with whom i feel safe. with whom i am at home.

woman...you somehow can read ppl's minds... ever thought of writing a book of psychology or something? hahaha...or just publish your thoughts into a book...

I know exactly where you're coming from. And heck...life's been never fair for many but it's the few ppl / things that matter in one's life that makes one happy and fulfilled.

we may not see each other as often, but i am thankful for having you as a friend. Truly...you are a blessed person.
