i've said it before, and i'll say it again. i do not only hate, i abhor hypocrisy. particularly amongst people who proclaim to hold you dear, be it friends or family.
the hypocrisy i'm talking about is of that which is beyond the usual necessary evils, perpetrated at the workplace or with acquaintances on a daily basis. even these so-called "necessary evils" should be kept to the absolute minimum.
but what really, and i mean really gets to me, are those conniving few, who disguise themselves behind a seemingly sweet smile and demeanor, and pretend to be your friend - thereby lulling the more gullible few into extending a sincere hand of friendship.
you should not be afraid of those who stab you in the back, just when you've got your back turned. oh no...these are not to be feared, because your death will be quick.
no no....the ones whom you should fear for your life, are those who offer you peanut butter brownies and cupcakes and cookies, to your face. why? cos them goodies which they so nicely handed to you with a smile and a hug were in fact, laced with arsenic.
in cases like these, all we can do, is hope and pray, that one day (preferably sooner, rather than later), you'll catch them red handed, rolling pin in one hand, and arsenic bottle in the other.
yes i'm cynical. and the above does present somewhat of a fatalistic view (pun not intended). but i also do believe that we can't be suspicious of everyone we meet. the benefit of the doubt should be given first and freely, until subject in question has proven otherwise.
does this mean you'll be disappointed along the way? undoubtedly! many times even! but for each and every time that you are, the same is revealed to prove who amongst your "friends" are the true gems.
over and above that, the despicable are those who spread lies, in order to "save face" - even when they and everyone else know the obvious truth!
i mean, c'mon! how bloody stupid and ignorant is that?
extremely, i'd say.
