listening to: for me this is heaven - jimmy eat world

"all parents damage their children. it cannot be helped. youth, like pristine glass, absorbs the prints of its handlers. some parents smudge, others crack, a few shatter childhoods completely into jagged little pieces, beyond repair." - the five people you meet in heaven, mitch albom

this is what transpired today between myself and sook mun, amongst others...

relationships pass through three stages - emotion. responsibility. covenant.

the first, the "emotional" phase, could range from anything between lust, desire or the fuzzy feeling sort. as this matures, the relationship passes on to the "responsibility" stage, and that is when you start feeling accountable to one another. and once that is established, the relationship becomes a covenant between two individuals.

of emotional baggage, rocks and eggs...

some view emotional baggage like rocks. pile it on and you find yourself lagging behind, dragging your feet through this journey called life. but she begged to differ. to her, emotional baggage are more like eggs. as tiny and weightless as they are compared to the like of rocks, pile them on and you find yourself more than lagging behind and dragging your feet. why? because they are delicate and fragile, and you'll eventually find yourself exhausted and drained from running away from the smallest obstacle, just to keep your eggs intact.

i like the covenant. and i like the idea of eggs.
