mood: high from food
listening to: mahjong chitter chatter from parents & co.

...stuffed (yes, again!).

this time around it was from charsiew, siew yuk, choi keok, chu toh tong, siew ngap, bubur chacha and strawberry cheesecake (which was made by yours truly by the way :P) at a pot luck in poh jee's house.

note to self: don't play mahjong with pohjee's mum... she's one mean mahjong player i tell you...

as for the strawberry cheesecake... was preparing the biscuit base the night before 'cos it has to be chilled overnight (sometimes, i really think people write recipes with the intention to make life a little more difficult, just so the recipe seems more "waaahhh...."). well, that aside, popped it into the oven and told my maid to take it out in 5 mins while i go have a quick shower.

so there i was, in the shower, when i detected the yummy waft of toasted digestive biscuits. and so my thoughts went somewhere along the lines of...

"oh good! the base smells good... :) it's turning out alriiighh...wwaaiiittaminute!! something's burning!!!"

yup. the base was burnt and almost caught fire(oops!). why? cos i turned on the convection oven AND the grill without realising it (that should give you an indication of how much i use kitchen appliances...) heh*

so i spent most of the morning rushing around one utama, getting all the other ingredients AND another pack of digestives before rushing home to finish making the cake, all with the genuine intention of returning to the office to finish off some work thereafter.

needless to say, i was exhausted by the time i finished the cake (try making "soft peaks" by manually whipping cream and you'll know what i mean). so out went the office plans. spent the rest of the afternoon lazing around reading john irving's until i find you, having coffee at coffee bean with pat and albert before returning home for another mad rush to pohjee's.

now, off to alvin's for some mindless banter and good coffee.

i'm sorry you didn't get to eat the delicious cheesecake :D
