dear lils, thank you for the very pleasant surprise in the mail but more so for the thoughts that transcend the time and space between us. i had this notion of writing you an equally moving and awe inspiring letter but damn you woman, you didn't even leave a correspondence address! so much for romanticising this friendship of ours which has not only survived, but thrived (i think) on a lot more than a few unwritten letters. i see no point in reiterating what you spoke about in your letters, for you should know that my sentiments are almost, if not exactly, the same. but i must say, there is a nagging fear of not knowing when we will see each other again. i fear for you, your safety, your well-being and for all the times to come when you heart will weep and your spirit, broken. i fear for myself, afraid that when i do see you again, i will be left behind for all the engaging experiences that i will not be able to comprehend, just because i wasn't there. i fear for us, that in time to come, we may end up merely strangers sitting across each other at starbucks, exchanging politeness, feigning an interest in each other's lives. i know we're both not naive enough to ignore the reality of such posibilities. and yet, how we still wish for the fairy tale, no? see. that's what i love about our friendship. the common ground we share in finding solace in the humour of being the two most cynical idealists around us, and knowing for a FACT that we take ourselves WAY too seriously... =) now, be a good girl and let me know how to contact you! you'll be in my prayers (if and when i do pray =P) and know for a fact, that i am missing you, even when i do not know it myself. take care, keep safe and God bless, jo
